Live Butterfly Release Fundraiser
The Red Deer Hospice Society launched a new fundraiser where people could purchase a live butterfly to release in remembrance of a loved one, to celebrate a milestone in their life or to give hope to someone who needs it. Thanks to our supportive community we have officially SOLD OUT! If you purchased a butterfly online, they will be distributed via curbside pick up on June 30, 2020. Please watch your email for pick up details.
Every year we host a memorial butterfly release to remember and celebrate with the families who have had someone journey through Hospice in the previous year. This year, we wanted to also give more people an opportunity to celebrate, remember or give hope to someone who needs it.
The release of butterflies is a healing experience that can comfort family and friends who have experienced a loss. They are also often considered beautiful representations of the various stages of life and demonstrate that despite adversity, simple changes and time can make life even more beautiful than before.
We know its been a difficult time for everyone and in deciding to share this tradition with more people, we want to extend that hope, healing and connection across the city.
We hope this format gives people an opportunity to connect while still maintaining the health and safety of our community and respecting all social distancing requirements.
*Butterfly purchases do not qualify for a charitable tax receipt. For further information, please contact our Fund Development & Marketing Coordinator at 403-309-4344 ext. 108 or by email.
