Annual Memorial Butterfly Release

Our Memorial Butterfly Release ceremony is hosted for loved ones of residents who journey through Red Deer Hospice the previous year. The event takes place in the Memorial Garden across the street from Hospice. It is a tranquil setting to remember our loved ones, as well as a beautiful first home for the painted lady butterflies. The release of butterflies is a healing experience that can comfort family and friends suffering from a loss.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Red Deer Hospice Society will host our Annual Memorial Butterfly Release for the loved ones of resident who journeyed through Hospice in 2023. Please note, only loved ones of residents who passed through Hospice in the previous year are invited to the Memorial Butterfly Release. (For example, if your loved one passed away in 2023 then you would be invited to the 2024 event.)
