Janelle Brideau's Head Shave for Hospice

On Sunday, May 6, 2012 Janelle Brideau kicked off "National Hospice Palliative Care Week" by shaving her head.

Two main reasons inspired her to do this:

• to raise awareness of hospice palliative care, and
• to raise funds for The Red Hospice Society in memory of her mom, Anna-Mary Brideau.

Janelle's fundraising goal was $5,000, but she far exceeded ALL expectations and with the support of many friends, family and work colleagues, she raised more than $8,800.  Awesome job Janelle!!

Kari Deter, a Volunteer hairdresser at Red Deer Hospice graciously offered to shave Janelle's head at our annual

Hike for Hospice, and friends of Janelle's cut the first few 'locks' of hair off.

    inspirational Third Party Fundaisers!!

Talk About 'Going the Extra Mile'!!

I think everyone is familiar with the common saying "Going the extra mile".   

Red Deer Hospice is very fortunate to have had two supporters not only go the extra mile,

but Willie Hopkins and Suzanne McKinlay were successful in running thirteen miles (a half marathon)

in memory of their mother and grandmother, Suzanna Bavelaar.

These wonderful women collected cash donations towards Red Deer Hospice

and raised in excess of $2,600!  WOW!  That's over $200 a mile! 

Or in our Hospice currency it equates to over nine days of care!
